SANDHAN conducts evaluation and research studies on issues of children and education with special focus on children from the most marginalzed and deprived groups. These become the base for sensitising the policy makers, influencing the planning processs to respond to educational needs.

Use of Library as a pedagogic technique becomes inspiring for both teachers and students during teaching learning process. This aspect was reaffirmed during the quality education endeavor with government schools. SANDHAN with resource support from UNICEF has prepared a Shikshak Sandarshika (Guide book for teachers).

Books from various publications viz. Pratham, National Book Trust, Children’s Book Trust, some private publishers etc were looked into for preparation of this document. These books were used during classroom transactions; were found to be significant in linking classroom teaching with library activities.

The Sandarshika is broad guideline for teachers for classroom transactions. There is space for teachers to incorporate appropriate changes. It is an open-ended semi structured guideline which is not 'complete' in itself; for in educational process, no endeavor can be complete. There ought to be room for revision to keep up its relevance and utility.
